Belgium Proximus football league
The Belgian First Division B (officially known as the Proximus League) is the second highest league in the Belgian football league system and is one step below the Belgian First Division A. It was founded by the Royal Belgian Football Association in 2016 and replaces the Belgian Second League division.
The Belgian First Division B was founded in 2016 as the successor to the Belgian Second Division after a revision of the Belgian football league system, reducing the number of professional clubs to 24 and the number of teams on the second level of the football pyramid to 24 8.

The season consists of two separate competitions in which all 8 teams play twice against each other. The winners of both competitions face each other in a two-legged playoff, with the winner rising to the Belgian First Division A.
By 2019, the three best teams, with the exception of the promoted team, played in a playoff for a UEFA Europa League ticket, along with the teams that finished seventh to sixty in the Belgian First Division A. The remaining four teams contested a relegation playoff, with the last team relegated to the Belgian First Amateur Division. As of 2019, the six best teams participated in the playoffs of the Europa League (including the promotion team), with only the bottom two teams contested the relegation playoffs in which they play five times against each other.
