The hometown of the team is Cairo and their historic stadium is the Cairo International Stadium, although they have already played in other stadiums in Alexandria and Cairo. In 2019 and during the 2019 African Nations Cup, the pharaohs returned to their historic stadium.

Thus, the team is one of only three African national teams, which have come under the top ten in the world (the other two are Nigeria and Morocco). Despite their remarkable continental record, Egypt have so far played only three World Cup matches (1934, 1990 and 2018). The Egyptian team was the first non-European or American team to qualify for the World Cup.
