Estonia is governed by the Estonian Football Association

Football in Estonia is governed by the Estonian Football Association (Eesti Jalgpalli Liit). The EJL controls the national club championships (Meistriliiga, II League, III League, IV League, Naiste Meistriliiga, Naiste Esiliga, Naiste II League), the Estonian Cup, the Estonian Super Cup, the Estonian Cup and the national teams (Estonian national football team , Estonian women's national football team (all youth teams).

The Estonian football league system is a series of related leagues for club football in Estonia. Reserve teams play in the same league pyramid as their feeder clubs, but, like most other leagues, they can not be promoted to the same league. The system has a hierarchical format with ascent and descent between leagues at various levels, allowing even the smallest club to dream of rising to the top of the system. An additional league, Esiliiga B, has been added for the 2013 season between Esiliiga and II Liiga. In 2013, there were 145 teams in 12 leagues, although the number of clubs varies from year to year as clubs join and leave leagues or drop out.

Meistriliiga - Top Division, consists of professional, semi-professional and amateur club sites.

Esiliiga - The second league of Estonian club football consists of amateur and reserve clubs. The winner wins the automatic promotion to the top league, the runner-up plays in the promotion / relegation playoff.

Esiliiga B - The third league of Estonian club football consists of amateur and reserve clubs. The winner wins the automatic promotion to the second league, the runner-up plays in the promotion / relegation playoff.

II Liiga - The fourth stage of Estonian club football consists of two regional divisions - North / East and South / West. The winners of each division win the automatic promotion to the Esiliiga B.

III Liiga - The fifth tier of Estonian club football is divided into four regional divisions - North, East, South and West. Winners of each division win the automatic promotion to the II Liiga.

IV Liiga - The sixth tier of the Estonian League Pyramid is divided into four divisions - North / East, South and North / West.

Cup competitions:

Estonian Cup - an annual knockout competition for all clubs, which, in contrast to league competitions, follows the autumn spring season.

The Estonian Small Cup - an annual knockout competition for clubs from II Liiga - follows the fall spring season.

Estonian Supercup - annual season opener between Meistriliiga and last season's Estonian cup winner.
