Ladbrokes League One-Scottish League One

The Scottish League One, known as the Ladbrokes League One for sponsorship, is the third tier of the Scottish Professional Football League, the league competition for men's professional football clubs in Scotland. The Scottish League One was founded in July 2013, after the Scottish Professional Football League emerged from the merger of the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League.

Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. The teams are scored according to the total score, goal difference and goals scored. At the end of each season, the club with the most points will be crowned league champion. If the points are equal, the goal difference determines the winner. If this still does not lead to a winner, the two teams must participate in a neutral place in a playoff game to determine the final placings.

The champions are promoted directly to the Scottish championship and exchange their seats with the lowest club of the championship. The clubs, which take the places 2, 3, 4 and 9 in the championship, then enter the play-off of the two-legged championship. Second-placed League One club play the third-placed League One club, while the team that finished fourth in League One play the ninth-placed championship team. The winners of these games then play against each other. If a League One play-off winner wins, that club will be promoted and the championship will drop. When the championship team wins, it retains its place in the championship.

The league one-playoff system matches that of the championship, in which the lowest club of the League One automatically descends and the ninth-placed club goes through a playoff with the second, third and fourth-placed clubs of League Two.
